After more than 2 and half years of work, the KiWi platform 1.0 was officially released to the community. The event took place at Planetarium, an exciting space and quite inspiring. The space was properly made up by “KiWi” style, colors and flavors.

Attending of KES2010 conference, Cardiff, UK

From 10th-12th September I attended the 14th International Conference on Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems (KES 2010). The conference took place in Cardiff, the capital of Wales. Cardiff is well established as ‘Europe’s Youngest Capital’ but its history dates back more than 2000 years to the Romans. The conference consisted of keynote talks, oral and poster presentations, invited sessions and workshops, on the applications and theory of intelligent systems and related areas.

Highlights of research results on Community Detection presented at the ASONAM 2010 Conference

From 9 to 11 of August I attended the ASONAM 2010 conference in Odense. The city, located in the Funen Island, is the third largest in Denmark and houses the H. C. Andersen Museum, next to place he was allegedly born. As for the conference, for three days it covered topics in social networks analysis and mining, with particular emphasis to the detection of communities and groups, and issues with security and terrorism networks.

Impressions from ACM SAC 2010

The 25th ACM SAC conference was held in Sierre, Swiztherland, a very privileged area surrounded by the stunning Swiss Alps. Comparing to my previous attendance, it seems the number of attendees has decreased (maybe just an impression). On the other hand, the quality of works and the level of plenary discussion seem to be improved. Because the conference is multi-track, I could attend sessions of related areas to my current work such as data mining and semantic web.
